Skylar’s Bag

Posted: August 13, 2010 in Uncategorized
Back in April, we made some fabric by collaging strips of old mechanics coveralls and then parallel-stitching and washing the finished piece.
I traded a way funky, stream-of-conciousness belt-pouch bag to Mona for some nice belts at her yard sale last weekend – Skylar saw it and got excited about having his own hip(ster) pouch.
This is the bag that Mona got – the freeform stitching on the thrift-store vinyl belt was done with our 120 year old Singer Patcher sewing machine.

Here is the one that I made for Skylar last night.

The body of the bag is a vintage reused Eastern European Army Duffel Bag made from hemp, with foreground fabric being our collaged coveralls.

Wear it well,
